Venues Library
The Venues Library lets organizations discover and copy venue schemas published by other organizations. For self-hosted deployments, library content can also be pulled from another Seatmap instance.
How it works
- Publisher organizations opt in to the library and choose which of their venues are listed.
- Browse organizations see listed venues in a reverse-chronological grid, preview a thumbnail, and copy the venue into their own organization in one click.
- Snapshot semantics: a copy is frozen at the moment it is created. Later changes by the publisher do not propagate to existing copies — you own your copy.
- Provenance: every copied venue records where it came from. The trail follows the schema for the lifetime of the copy.
- Audit: every copy and asset transfer is logged for review by global admins.
Sub-topics
- Publishing a venue — enable publisher status, list venues, and review activity.
- Browsing and copying — find listed venues, preview, and copy them to your organization.
- Federation across instances — set up cross-instance pulls for self-hosted deployments.
Constraints
- The browse experience is reverse-chronological only in this release. Search, filtering, and curation are intentionally deferred.
- Copies are frozen and do not auto-update from the publisher.
- Asset storage is duplicated per copy.
- Only global admins can audit cross-organization activity.
Roles
- User — can browse and copy when the user’s organization has access to the library.
- Admin of a publisher organization — can list and unlist venues for that organization.
- Global admin — can promote organizations to publisher status, manage federation access, and view the full audit log.
