Global Search

Global search finds venues, schemas and events from anywhere in the editor and takes you straight to them, without walking down the venue list.

Press / or Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux), or click the search box in the top bar. The shortcut is ignored while you are typing in a field and while a dialog is open, so it never steals a keystroke from a form.

Press Escape to close the box and return the focus where it was.

What you can search for

The box searches all three object types at once and groups the results under Events, Schemas and Venues.

You type What it matches
A name, 3+ letters Venue, schema and event names.
A number The object’s id — searched immediately, from 1 digit.
A GUID An event GUID — searched immediately.
An external id The id your own system assigned to the object.

Names need at least three characters before a search runs, so a stray keystroke does not query the whole catalogue. Ids and GUIDs are recognised by shape and searched as soon as they are complete.

Choosing a result

  • Arrow Down and Arrow Up move through the results.
  • Enter opens the highlighted result.
  • Cmd+Enter (Ctrl+Enter) opens it in a new browser tab.

Clicking a result does the same as Enter.

An event opens in the schema editor with that event already selected, rather than on the schema’s default view — see Events Hub.

Results in another organization

Search is scoped to your active organization, so a multi-organization member sees results from the organization they are currently working in. Switch organization to search another one.

Administrators whose access spans several organizations — a tenant administrator across the tenant, a global administrator across the instance — see results from all of them, and each result outside the current organization shows the organization it belongs to. Opening such a result switches the active organization first, then navigates, so you land in the right context in one step.
